I was so lucky to get a waitlist place and then to get to run at this event! I emailed the organisers on a whim on last Sunday after feeling envious of those at Moreton.
The morning did not start well with Milly coming into season overnight making her a complete air head! She broke away twice when only trying to pick feet out, breaking her leather headcollar! Just about managed to plat and off we went. Though the 2 hr drive I considered turning around a few times as she threw herself around in the lorry. Buy the time we got the she’d chilled.
Dressage was a little bit like a posh Victorian lady trying not to get her frock muddy as she walked over grass! So not the best score we’ve ever had. 1st time in grass this season, but I need to learn how to ride her though it.
Showjumping was on a surface. She was so spooky going in she slammed on the breaks midway between fence 3 & 4 spooking at no 4 but it worked well to slow her in the related distance. 1 down where she jumped right towards horses.
XC seemed quite meaty and there certainly things that could cause problems. It rode very well and Mills gobbled up the course loving every second! Home clear and inside the time to finish 12th. Well chuffed!

Thank you to Sister-in-Law Joanne and Maddie for coming along for support. It was so nice to have you there. Thank you for the SJ video 😘
Official xc video and pics shortly. I couldn’t wait for them on the day. Need
ed to get home.
Blood sugars were rubbish all day. Need to get those under control or my eyes will get bad again 😔
