Pontispool

Hot sticky and just too damn hot! I think I got there with too much time to spare. On some fronts it’s nice not to be rushed but 3.5 hrs of hanging about in that humid heat on your own is a bit much.

Dressage: a nice accurate test with improved trot work. Still needs more pezazz! The canter work let us down this time but I think it was down to the pilot feeling ready to pass out! 32 score was still a little disappointing, but then I’m not sure I can really remember how it went in detail! 🤯😰

SJ: still donning the show jacket to hide any bulges! I made my way to the showjumping. Warmup was okay. Went into the arena and Milly just got over whelmed by the marquees and flags above her (pontispool arena is set low). We came to the first fence and landed on it! She just had not been listening to me 😡. We rode on, all imbalanced and front heavy. We knocked two more down. Now I was starting to wonder if the heat was getting to Milly too.

XC: again, do we don’t we? My blood glucose was awful I’d taken 10 lots of correction doses, trying not to overdose and go hypo. I felt a little ill. Our SJ round had me concerned. I decided to warm up and pull up if she wasn’t right......

She lit up! 🚀 seeking missile engaged and away we went! She was awesome! Still a little spooky at water but flew the big table with yellow shavings bales without batting an eyelid!

This made it all better 🤗 even if my diabetes was playing havoc! We came 13th which is amazing considering our 12 SJ faults!
