I’m chuffed to bits with our performance today! I won’t go on too much, so here’s a brief outline:
Hot long day! There were moments where I think both Milly and I thought “it’s a bit warm to be doing this”! Dressage was pleasing, lacking pizazz! Milly got stage fright again 🙈 which means little (but round!) me has to work very hard. We got 30.3.
Seeing Famous equestrians everywhere just made me smile, I thought “What a privilege” rather than being intimidated.
Showjumping! (Shudder!), the warm up was horrendous. Too many riders and coaches in a tiny arena, I struggled to jump anything at all. People kept adjusting the fences as I approached, shouting “upright” didn’t seem to work. So I gave up and just went for it. With a bit of vocal self coaching “Relax”! We had our first ever clear round!! Yeppee!

XC: do we run - don’t we run? The ground was hard! I decided to go for it, but not charge round. I even forgot my watch and didn’t bother to send my husband back to get it as I knew I didn’t want to push Milly. I was worried about a few jumps that can catch us out..... we flew!! Happy as Larry!!

I later found if I didn’t get time fault, which I know we are perfectly capable, I would have been 7th! Whoop whoop.
But my horse means the world to me. She loves doing her job & I want to keep it that way & I want her to be safe/injury free. Could have had a rozzie but I’m just OVER THE MOON!
Diabetes was impossible to monitor without a Libre Freestyle (CGM) and my insulin pump cannula fell out after the XC and I forgot my back up pack, so had to get home quick to get insulin into me. Lesson learnt!
Thank you to my gorgeous Husband Martin for coming along and thank you Lorna my lifelong friend for coming to support. Love you both x
