Super early start with us getting up at 4am! It was nice hearing the morning chorus even if it was stupidly early!
Milly’s dressage was by far the nicest test she’s done on grass. No rushing, no tension AND..... no spooking!!! 🤣. I was super chuffed. Unfortunately, opinions vary and we were given what I thought was a harsh mark. 31. Ah well!
The showjumping phase is our worst phase and I need to stop thinking like that. I think I’m going to get CBT to help me with this. We had 1 pole down, it wasn’t unlucky - it was me over checking 🙄.
I was really looking forward to the cross country and felt confident that we’d be fine. The time was tight so I rode with my watch to see if I could make use of it. Overall the ride felt a bit rough compared to Solihull. The course is very hilly. The jumps are either going up hill, downhill or on a sideways slope. A well balanced horse is needed here. We flew round in 10sec over the optimum time.
** learning point: your allowed 15 seconds BEFORE the optimum time without penalty NOT after/either side of it*** 🤦

We placed 12th again, which is fair for a field of 40 starters including GB and professional riders... which I always wonder why they are not in the ‘open’ class?
Diabetes was a little better today. As you can see they spiked with the adrenaline of jumping again, but not as high as previously. I just need to gradually increase the insulin dose to stop it from climbing this way. It’s just very......very important not to overdose as I’ll just faint and fall off!!

Next up: Mount Ballan
